Hagåtña, Guam – Youth for Youth LIVE Guam’s 24th Annual Youth for Youth Conference is scheduled for May 16 – 18, 2014.
This year’s conference theme is Limitless. Local and regional middle and high school students are invited to attend this 3-day conference, where they can engage with and learn from their peers the limitless options and opportunities they have to make safe and healthy choices in their lives.
The Annual Youth for Youth conference is designed by the youth, for the youth.
It will be facilitated by about 50 members of the YFYLG organization who completed weekly planning meetings, a two-part facilitator training and team building workshop in March and April.
“This year’s conference will be led by many new members of Youth for Youth,” shared Conference Co-Chair Joey Cruz, also a junior at GW High School. “Fresh faces and new perspectives … but we all have a common drive to promote prevention among Guam’s teenagers.”
The conference will focus on three main topics: underage drinking prevention, suicide prevention and substance abuse prevention. Co-Chair and AOLG junior Jane Kang adds: “Our youth members have been preparing for this conference since last year – workshop trainings, bonding retreats, team building activities. We can’t wait to meet the students who will be joining us at this year’s conference.”
