Guam Youth Surfers Do Well In Japan


Guam – Two Guam junior surf athletes, sponsored by Guahan Napu Inc. and Tumon Bay Lobster and Grill, fared well at the Isonoura Youth Surfing Contest in Japan on July 3. 16-year-old Joshua James “JJ” Gogue, emerged second place overall in the 16 and under male junior open category.

His younger sibling, Jared Brandon Gogue, 13, who placed third overall in the 2009 contest, made it to fifth place in the semi-finals in the same category. The annual youth surfing contest was held at the coastal town of Wakayama, near Osaka.
